Rose-ringed Parakeet eating fruits of Caesalpinia pulcherrima var. Flava

on 6th January 2013

“Last Sunday (23rd December 2012) I took some photos of a pair of green parrots (what’s correct name?) which were eating the seeds of a roadside yellow peacock flower tree (Caesalpinia pulcherrima var. Flava) right in front of our house. So happy to see them this close for once,” wrote Lam Chun See, who has been contributing his encounters with birds on and off.

The birds are Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), an introduced species, now relatively common. They are eating the seeds from the unripe pods – see a video clip HERE.
